Spain is mourning its deadliest wildfire on record. Eleven people have died and another 19 are missing near Los Gallardos in Andalusia. When residents living in the mountainous area were advised to flee the approaching flames, they were directed down one particular road. But in the village of Bedar, people were told to stay put and wait for the fire to pass. Some victims were found dead after driving away from the recommended exit down an unpaved road alongside a dry riverbed. Four people died in one vehicle and seven more died after escaping their cars and attempting to run to safety. Of the 11 dead whose identities have been confirmed, 10 are believed to be foreigners.
